Arnold J. Kemp

Arnold J. Kemp is a poet and artist who has collaborated with several New Narrative authors. He was organizing a residency for Kathy Acker at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco before Acker became too ill to follow-through on the project. Alternately, Kemp engaged Dennis Cooper as a visiting artist at YBCA and co-curated “Guide to Trust No. 2,” an exhibition inspired by Cooper’s early novels. In 2012 Robert Glück penned the essay “My Last Day” in response to Kemp’s work, and a chapbook was published by Margaret Tedesco of 2nd Floor Projects, San Francisco. In 2017 Kemp premiered an exhibition that took place in Mexico City entitled CUANDO LOS ENFERMOS GOBEIRNAN EL MUNDO (When the Sick Rule the World), referencing the writing of Dodie Bellamy. Kemp currently serves as Dean of Graduate Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
